Exclusive: Swansea City and Preston North End weighing up moves for Wolves midfielder.
After a tough season at Molineux in which Cundle failed to get into the first team, EFL teams are eager to grab him when the January transfer market opens.
The 22-year-old established himself at Championship level during the 2022/23 season at Swansea, making 34 appearances for Russell Martin’s side, scoring three goals and providing four assists, and becoming a popular figure at the Swansea.com Stadium.
Cundle played 40 times in the Championship with Stoke and Plymouth Argyle last year. He was retained by Wolves in the summer with the goal of gaining first-team experience after a prospective return to Stoke fell through.

Club | Season | P | G | A |
Wolves | 2019- | 7 | 0 | 0 |
Swansea City (Loan) | 2022-23 | 34 | 3 | 4 |

However, regular football has failed to materialise, and after only making the Premier League matchday squad once this season with Wolves, EFL clubs are looking to swoop in January.
Cundle’s age and prior exploits in the league make him an appealing option for Championship teams, with Swansea and Preston among those considering offers for him ahead of the January transfer window.
Luke Cundle would be a good addition for Championship clubs in January
Cundle’s prospects of playing regularly for a Wolves team in relegation trouble are small, thus a January departure makes sense, whether on loan or permanently.
His contract at Molineux expires in the summer of 2026, thus Wolves may be inclined to sell him as he enters the final year of his contract, whilst other teams may prefer a loan arrangement before reevaluating the situation in the summer.
At this point in his career, the 22-year-old will want to play regular senior games, and joining Wolves’ U21 team is a step down following two seasons in the Championship.
Cundle has shown to be a more than adequate Championship player in previous seasons, and interest from a number of EFL clubs is unsurprising as the transfer market opens.
