Premier League confirm Newcastle United & Ipswich Town official decision after Arsenal rage.
The Premier League has announced the match officials for Newcastle United’s game against Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon (kickoff 3pm).
Eddie Howe’s team travels to East Anglia after beating Leicester City and Brentford at home. This is Newcastle’s first visit to Portman Road in seven years, and their first top-flight appearance since 2001.
Stuart Attwell has been appointed as referee for the Magpies’ first game this season. The last time he oversaw a Newcastle game, it was somewhat controversial.
Attwell played in the 3-1 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion and the 8-0 victory at Sheffield United. However, he is most known for United’s 1-0 win over Arsenal in November 2018.
Anthony Gordon’s 64th-minute goal was subject to three VAR reviews. The first review was to see if Joe Willock retained the ball in play in the build-up, the second was to see if Joelinton fouled Gabriel, and the third was for an offside against Gordon.
