Philippe Clement responds after Rangers vs. Celtic’s penalty admission.

The Scottish Football Association’s head of refereeing, Willie Collum, acknowledged that Clement’s team should have been awarded a penalty after Vaclav Cerny was fouled on the 18-yard line.

VAR did not recommend a review at the time, so the Gers missed out on an opportunity they felt might have changed the game for them instead of the match going to penalties, where they lost 5-4.

Philippe Clement is glad there has been transparency after Rangers were wrongfully not awarded a penalty against Celtic in the League Cup final.

As he stated in his pre-game press conference, “My team played well [against Celtic], they were strong after a strong performance also against Tottenham,” Clement did not hold back in his criticism of the officials and expressed his satisfaction that the SFA had acknowledged their error.

After the game, everyone was hurt—players, personnel, and spectators.

After the game, you get the impression that the rules are not being followed; there was no room for interpretation.

“It’s good that there has been openness and transparency regarding what transpired.”

Rangers and Philippe Clement must move on.
It’s time to move on and concentrate on the forthcoming match against Dundee on Saturday [21 December], even if everyone at Ibrox has every reason to be furious with the referees for admitting that they should have been given a penalty.

It can be a matter of swings and roundabouts, as there are no assurances that the penalty would have been scored or whether it would have altered the outcome of the match at all. Additionally, there have been allegations that Jefte ought to have been sent off during the game.
As the Gers lie third in the league, 11 points behind their rivals at the top, the Belgian still has a lot of work to do to persuade fans that he is the guy who can manage transformation at the club.

But prior to the cup final, Clement’s team was playing well, winning nine straight games in all competitions. They must so concentrate on the league and make sure they begin earning points in order to move up to second place.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are giving priority to one position when the January transfer market opens due to an injury to one of their players.
