“Simply cannot be allowed to leave” – Cardiff City strongly urged against Callum O’Dowda transfer action
With Cardiff underperforming in the Championship, some high-profile players may want a move away from the Welsh club.
However, many of them are doing considerably better under Riza, and Cardiff fans will be confident that their season is on the right track after demonstrating ambition during the summer transfer window.
Given that, in my opinion, he is our best and most important player. But he only joined the club in the summer, so it’s utterly ridiculous to expect him to go just yet.
“Although he is completely invaluable. So, Callum O’Dowda is one player I don’t anticipate to leave, but he absolutely must be allowed to leave.
“Perhaps he’s a bit of an outlier, but he represents consistency every week.
“He provides us with excellent athleticism on the left side. You believe he and Chris Willock need to play together more often to retain what appears to be a promising connection.
“But O’Dowda always gives you his entire effort. He is one of the few Cardiff players who I believe truly understands what it means to support us.
“He’s pretty good at taking things ahead, which is something we desperately need right now, especially in large regions.
“He’s also a high volume crosser. And, when he receives the ball, he appears to have the potential to make something happen.
“He’s just solid, with no noticeable weaknesses in his game. Every week, you consistently receive a six or seven out of ten.
“He’s a fan darling, and there isn’t another player on this squad with a profile like his. He can also give huge moments, as seen with his goal against Norwich City earlier this season.
“He is one of many players who will be out of contract in the summer, so could a team make a cheeky bid to sign him now?
“Probably not, and if that is the case, you’d like to assume Cardiff will be working on a new deal for him, but you never know.
“It’s something to think about, and we should sign him to new terms as soon as possible.
“While he isn’t our best player, I believe his profile is vital to us at this moment.
“So is the character that he is, and he is quite significant and useful. I don’t think we’ll let him go in January, and we can’t even consider doing so.”
O’Dowda, a versatile player for Cardiff, can play as a winger or full-back, providing tactical versatility on the left side of the ball. While he is not the most technically skilled player on the club, his work ethic, contribution outside of possession, and ability to cover territory make him a vital member of the team.
O’Dowda’s speed and engine make him a valuable supporter of both offense and defense. As Jack mentions, his consistency is impressive, and he frequently delivers trustworthy results.
Those types of players are essential in a squad throughout a 46-game Championship campaign, even if he is not the standout on the field. Despite not being the most flashy or technically gifted player on the team, his dependability and willingness to adapt make him an important member of the Cardiff squad.
