Southampton eyeing move for 4-3-3 attacking manager with 147 career wins
According to a recent rumour, Southampton’s management is currently thinking about hiring a 4-3-3 attacking manager as they continue to look for a replacement for Russell Martin.
Latest on Southampton’s manager search
The Saints opted to fire Martin immediately following their 5-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday evening,
which left them at the foot of the table with one win in 16 games and nine points away of safety. The 38-year-old
departs St. Mary’s Stadium after winning 34 of his 73 matches in command, as the Saints begin their search for a
replacement.
On Monday, it was revealed that Danny Rohl, the manager of Sheffield Wednesday, is being considered for the
position. Rohl has supporters in Southampton. The German has already worked for the club, serving as Ralph
Hasenhuttl’s assistant manager several years ago. Southampton have yet to make a formal approach for Rohl, but he
could be someone to keep an eye on.
According to Sky Sports, the Saints are also considering two additional foreign managers. The Premier League team
will not need to pay compensation for either of them. As things stand, under-21 boss Simon Rusk will take charge of
Wednesday’s Carabao Cup match against Liverpool, and he is also on standby for Sunday’s game against Fulham.
