Raheem Morris sends message to Kirk Cousins after near collapse vs. Raiders

Has Raheem Morris just put Kirk Cousins on the hot seat?

The Atlanta Falcons have a chance to make the postseason in 2024. Atlanta narrowly defeated Las Vegas on Monday Night Football, winning 15-9. This game keeps them in contention for the NFC South Division title. Falcons supporters had legitimate concerns about QB Kirk Cousins’ performance in this game.

Falcons coach Raheem Morris also expressed dissatisfaction with the situation. Morris gave a candid appraisal of Cousins after the game.

“He’s gotta play better,” Morris said of Cousins after the game, according to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi. “He aspires to play better. We need to find a method to get him to play better.”

Cousins did not have a nice night. The veteran quarterback completed 11 of 17 passes for 112 yards, with one score and one interception.

Cousins did not disagree with his head coach’s evaluation of his performance.

“It’s stating the obvious,” Cousins explained.

This is a big story for the Falcons for several reasons.Atlanta signed Cousins to a huge contract during free agency, so it’s disappointing to see that money potentially wasted. Michael Penix Jr., a first-round quarterback, has been sitting behind Cousins all season.

It will be interesting to see how the Falcons handle the quarterback position for the remainder of the season.

Falcons are still in the NFC. South divisional race boosted to Week 15 triumph on Monday Night Football.

The Falcons absolutely needed a win on Monday Night Football. Atlanta’s win keeps them one game behind the Buccaneers in the NFC South division rankings.

This is significant as the Falcons have a head-to-head tiebreaker over the Buccaneers. If the Falcons can match the Buccaneers’ victory total in the next three games, they will win the division.

Morris stated that is exactly where he wants his club to be right now.

“That’s where you want to be, and that’s exactly where we are,” Falcons coach Raheem Morris explained. “We’ve got a short week; we need to get back in the lab.” We need to figure out how to correct our mistakes from tonight and come out with another victory.”

Atlanta’s next three games are against New York, Washington, and Carolina. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay faces three opponents: Dallas, Carolina, and New Orleans. All the Falcons need to do right now is keep winning.

The Falcons’ next game is against the Giants in Week 16.
