Beck scores and Gordon finally plays amid recall talk – Liverpool FC Loan Watch
On loan at Blackburn, Liverpool youngster Owen Beck scored his first goal of the year, and Kaide Gordon also got
some much-needed playing time.
Since moving from Anfield to Ewood Park in the summer, Beck has drawn attention with a series of standout left-
back performances.
The 22-year-old doubled Blackburn’s lead in their 2-0 victory over Luton on Saturday, marking his biggest
contribution of the season.
With a number of bodies in front of him, Beck blasted home a forceful shot after the ball fell invitingly to him inside
the penalty area.
The Lancashire Telegraph commended him for taking his goal “really well” during his 12th Championship
appearance of the season, saying that he “had time when it came out to him but he didn’t lash at it and he found the corner.”
Following previous rumours that he will be loaned to Burnley, Gordon entered as a late substitution in Norwich’s 2-1
home loss to Burnley on Sunday afternoon.
The 20-year-old may hope this is a modest step in the right way, as sources have said he may return to Liverpool in
January owing to his lack of playing time.
With five assists this season, Ben Doak has been a standout at Middlesbrough, and on Saturday, he experienced
success once more.
The Scot contributed 75 minutes to his team’s 1-0 victory over Millwall at home, which moved them up to sixth place
in the standings and into the playoffs.
However, Doak didn’t produce enough; according to the Northern Echo’s player ratings, it “wasn’t really his day as
he failed to make the most of some decent positions by failing to pick out a teammate.”
Stefan Bajcetic had a successful day for RB Salzburg in terms of results, despite playing just 19 minutes as a
substitute in the team’s 3-0 victory over SK Austria Klagenfurt at home.
In other news, Valencia is already feeling the effects of Georgi Mamardashvili’s absence after losing 1-0 to Real
Valladolid in La Liga on Friday.
Last weekend, Lewis Koumas made headlines for Stoke with a spectacular goal, but he didn’t have as much of an
impact in the 2-2 draw with Cardiff, starting the match before the hour.
In an exciting match between Motherwell and Dundee United, Luca Stephenson played 83 minutes, but his team lost 4-3.
Rhys Williams lost to Cheltenham 2-0 on the road at Morecambe as well, dropping them to second-from-bottom in
League Two.
Both Marcelo Pitaluga and Calvin Ramsay did not make the matchday squad since they were unused for Livingston
and Wigan, respectively.
