Popular Town stopper Kaminski looking forward to Ewood Park return

The opportunity to return to his old team, Blackburn Rovers, this afternoon is something Luton custodian Thomas Kaminski is excited about.

Before moving to Kenilworth Road three years later, the 32-year-old made 118 appearances for Ewood Park after leaving Belgian team Gent in the summer of 2020 for a little less than £500,000. Kaminski was a major favourite with the supporters in Lancashire at the time, winning Player of the Season in his debut season. He added, “I’m looking forward to that, as it’s a club where I still have a lot of friends,” upon his return.

“They are doing well and I was there for three years, so Lewis Travis, Tom Hyam, and Tyrhys Dolan are still there and the goalie coach is still there, so quite a few. I had a really nice time there as well, so I’m looking forward to seeing everyone. I’m playing for Luton now; it’s obvious that we need the points; they need the points. I’m playing for Luton so we have to win.”

Luton will be firm underdogs at the weekend, having lost their last six matches away from Kenilworth Road and conceding 20 goals in that time. Asked just why the Hatters have been so easy to beat outside of Bedfordshire, Kaminski added, “If I knew, we wouldn’t be performing like that. I think we’ve had some solid games as well; it’s not always been bad. At home we feel more confident, that’s for sure. Away we are trying to find the right formula to perform, but ultimately it’s about picking up points and getting the wins.

It hasn’t all been horrible; I believe we’ve also had some good games. We definitely feel more confident at home. In the end, it comes down to scoring points and winning, even though we are still attempting to figure out the best strategy to follow.

“I must admit that my confidence hasn’t been great lately, primarily due to the results, but that’s true in both football and life in general. Your confidence is usually low when things aren’t going well, but you always have the option to put in the effort and make it work. We’re looking for an answer, but if we knew, we could figure it out right away. Sometimes we need a little momentum and a little bit of luck. How do you achieve such things? Put in a lot of effort, try to improve the situation, and keep your head down. The only path forward, in my opinion, is to look at oneself and say, “I should do more or better.”
