Crystal Palace want to sell £14m man to fund January signings, says insider
Crystal Palace are reportedly ready to offload one of their forwards to fund new additions in the January transfer window.
A win over Ipswich Town and a draw with Manchester City has lifted spirits at Selhurst Park heading into the
Christmas period. However, with the club still floating dangerously just above the Premier League’s relegation zone,
manager Oliver Glasner will no doubt be looking to reinforce in the January transfer window.
James McAtee of Manchester City and Romaine Esse, a midfielder for Millwall, are among the names the Eagles
have already been connected to.Jhon Arias, a winger for Fluminense, is reportedly also on their radar.
Palace’s scouts are reportedly closely monitoring the 27-year-old, who finished the previous season with 15 goals and
eight assists in 53 games across all competitions, according to a recent report from Football Insider. Tim Vickery, a
South American football expert, has complimented the Colombian international, known as “Little Engine,” who has
earned 27 caps for his nation.
He is dynamic, adaptable, and capable of working wherever on the field. Regarding Arias, Vickery told talkSPORT, “I
think he’s been the Fluminense team’s greatest player.
Eagles want Edouard gone
Palace may want to sell forward Odsonne Edouard in a permanent deal in order to finance any possible transfer
transaction. Mick Brown of Football Insider says that if the Frenchman’s current loan at Leicester City is terminated,
the Eagles will try to sell him in January.
After failing to make an impression at King Power Stadium, Leicester may end their contract with the 26-year-old
after the new year, according to a story published earlier this month by Football Insider. Edouard hasn’t scored in
any of his eight Foxes games and hasn’t been included in the team’s lineup for the last four Premier League games.
“If his loan is terminated, I’ve heard Palace would like to move him on permanently,” Brown remarked. That would
enable them to profit from his sale and put that money into the team.
However, that will rely on whether any teams are interested in signing him after he hasn’t had an impact for Leicester.
Since they have been having problems finding strikers and he is unable to get in, you have to wonder what his level
is. He has gone on loan since they don’t have space for him because Mateta and Eddie Nketiah are already on their team.”
Glasner, the Palace manager, has also made it clear that he doesn’t think Edouard, who came to Selhurst in 2021 for
£14 million from Celtic, has a future there.
“From our perspective, there is no reason to bring him back because he isn’t playing for Crystal Palace if he isn’t at
Leicester.” earlier this month, the Austrian coach stated. “He might find another loan if he doesn’t play at Leicester.
However, he is not likely to return to play.
