Birmingham City offer ‘on the way’ – Player ‘about to move’ to England, can double salary with Blues

Birmingham City were keen on signing Phil Neumann in the summer window and made an offer, which was rejected by Hannover 96.

The League One side are still showing interest in the 27-year-old. That’s according to Bild, who provide the latest on the Blues transfer pursuit.

Neumann was disappointed with the second division German club’s decision to turn down Birmingham City’s €4m bid in the summer.

The Blues have a great desire to be successful in their second attempt to sign the centre-back in the winter market.

Neumann has just over six months left on his deal and has refused to sign an extension, confirmed by the club’s sporting director, Marcus Mann.

“We were unable to reach an agreement,” he said.

Bild say Birmingham City are intensively chasing the German and their ‘concrete and well-funded offer should be on the way’. The fee the English club will propose to Hannover isn’t mentioned, but it shouldn’t be high as his deal expires in 2025.

Despite reports linking the player to Borussia Mönchengladbach, FC Augsburg and Union Berlin, he’s ‘about to move’ to England in January.

The report states Neumann earns €50,000 per month at Hannover and will at least double his salary at Birmingham City.
