Two nil down, three two up, Jobe Bellingham wraps it up! Here’s how Andy rated the Lads…
Anthony Patterson: 6/10
Was nowhere near assertive enough for the first goal, he had to attack the high ball and make it his. Made up for that shortly afterwards, tipping a good shot just wide. No chance with the second goal and a quiet game from that point .
Trai Hume: 7/10
A solid display defensively, with little coming down his side and he popped up with an assist thanks to a well taken free kick onto the head of Ballard.
Dan Ballard: 7/10
Scored a really good goal thanks to a diving header to get onto the end of Hume’s free kick, dealt well with the Swansea strikers throughout.
Chris Mepham: 7/10
Like Ballard, he mopped up well in behind and made some good blocks in the first half while we were under the cosh.
Dennis Cirkin: 5/10
Nothing from him going forward, leaving Mayenda with little support and wasn’t at his best defensively.
Dan Neil (C): 8/10
Had to put a shift in during a difficult first half but came into his own after the break when we took control, largely thanks to Neil dictating play in the middle. Scored a superb goal to make it 2-2.
Jobe Bellingham: 7/10
Was erratic in the first half, made some good progressive runs up the pitch but then dawdled on the ball on occasion and got caught by the opposition, with the second goal from such an instance. Made up for it after the break, scoring the winner with a well timed run into the box and keeping hold of the ball much better.
Patrick Roberts: 5/10
Didn’t see enough of the ball this afternoon and when it did come his way he wasn’t able to do much with it.
Chris Rigg: 6/10
Looked quite leggy for an hour, struggling to get involved or make the right decision on the ball but could visibly see him grow in confidence as we got hold of the game and then set up the assist for the winner with a good cross to Jobe.
Eliezer Mayenda: 6/10
Doesn’t look suited to the left wing position but put a shift in and caused Key some issues with his direct running, had a few reasonable chances without really looking like scoring.
Wilson Isidor: 5/10
Put in a hell of a shift but another game where he was very isolated up top, had one great chance when Mepham floated a ball over the top for him but he took a heavy touch, which forced him wide and couldn’t get the subsequent shot on target.
Substitutes
Luke O’Nien: 7/10
Helped us shore up at the back, kept possession well and played a really good ball over the top with his head for Mayenda to run onto.
Man of the Match: Dan Neil
A captain’s performance, dragged us back into the game with a superb strike into the top corner when not a lot was happening in front of goal and controlled the game after the break. Struggled a bit with Swansea’s runners in the first half but worked really hard and covered an awful lot of ground while Jobe and Rigg were struggling,
