Why is Tottenham Hotspur’s trip to Southampton late 7pm kick-off on Sunday night?

On Sunday night, Tottenham’s match versus Southampton will begin at 7 p.m.

Following their Europa League match against Rangers on Thursday, Tottenham Hotspur will play Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday, December 15, at the odd hour of 7 p.m.

Ange Postecoglou’s team is currently in 11th place in the league after suffering a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to Chelsea.

Following a period of Spurs inconsistency, Postecoglou is now under increased pressure.
Last Sunday, they led the Blues 2-0, but they struggled and gave up four goals, particularly in the second half.
Due to regulations pertaining to the match’s broadcaster, Spurs’ Sunday trip to Southampton has been rescheduled
from 12.30 p.m. on Saturday to 7 p.m.
The Spurs’ journey to play the Saints is this week’s contest, and TNT Sports has the rights to broadcast the game
every Saturday at 12.30 p.m. However, the trip to Southampton has been rescheduled because of Spurs’ match
against Rangers on Thursday night. To give players more time to recover, TNT Sports had previously decided that
any team participating in a European competition that is playing away from home cannot be included in the 12.30
pm kickoff on Saturday.

In order to prevent scheduling conflicts, TNT Sports has chosen to relocate the game to Sunday evening since Sky Sports owns the rights to the Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon kickoffs.

Tottenham’s next five fixtures

Postecoglou will be keen to improve results after getting just one win in their last seven matches, which has led to growing frustration amongst the fan-base.

Spurs will play Manchester United in the EFL Cup quarterfinal next Thursday after travelling to Southampton, with

the goal of winning the competition for the first time since 2008.

The league leaders, Liverpool, who have never lost once all season in all competitions, will then be their formidable

opponent at home. They then travel to Nottingham Forest, who are presently five points ahead of Postecoglou’s team, on Boxing Day.

Then, in their final game before the new year, Spurs host a faltering Wolves team. On January 4, they take on a challenging Newcastle team.
