Maine State Police troopers are investigating two separate car crashes on Interstate 95 in Bangor late Saturday morning, November 9, that sent two people to the hospital with injuries.

Officials say that a vehicle traveling in the passing lane sped up and crossed into the travel lane to take exit 186. That caused a car in the right lane to brake quickly to avoid a collision. As a result, officials say this created a chain-reaction crash involving three cars that blocked both the passing and travel lanes.

No citations have been filed, and the identities of the people involved in the crash have not been released. The injured victims were transported to an area hospital for further care and evaluation.
