It is well known that things have not gone according to plan during Ezekiel Elliott’s reunion trip with the Dallas Cowboys. Since Rico Dowdle has a tight hold on the RB1 position, Elliott has had little effect on the Cowboys offense.
At the end of the season, ESPN’s Bill Barnwell thinks Elliott’s time in Dallas might be over. This offseason, Elliott will be a free agent, and the expert thinks the team will let go of both linebacker Eric Kendricks and the three-time Pro Bowler.
In an article titled “Offseason moves to fix the 49ers, Bengals, Cowboys, and Jets,” published on December 12, 2024, Barnwell stated that Ezekiel Elliott had been a replacement-level back and had seen his yards per rush decline for the fourth straight season. Although he was a fantastic player for a long time and performed admirably under Zimmer in Minnesota, Eric Kendricks is no longer a linebacker of NFL caliber. Every week, teams take advantage of his lack of range.
