Blackburn Rovers boss fights back at new narrative

John Eustace underlined his admiration for Blackburn Rovers’ ball movement and defensive framework.

Rovers are on a five-game winning streak in the Championship, their best since a six-game streak in December 2021.

Their last four victories have all been by a single goal, so there has been a lot of emphasis on their ability to hold out

against the opponents.

However, Eustace was also eager to emphasise Rovers’ improvement as a football club. Even in those close wins, the

quality of Rovers’ goals, particularly against Middlesbrough and Hull City, has been noticeable, as have the three

scored at Cardiff at the start of this run.

“We can dominate possession if we want to. We can also be hard to play against. We believe in ourselves. The players

have bought in and they’re the ones doing that

“We have a lot of pride in keeping clean sheets, you need that to win games. We have won 10 games this season

which is a great achievement until now.

“That is hard work on the training ground, togetherness from the boys and the XI making sure we’re hard to play

against. We want to win even more games.”

Eustace feels that Blackburn must continue to improve both their game as a whole.

“It is not a 20-game season, it’s 46. They’ve had a better run now and they will pick up more wins. Rob is a great

coach and they will be near the top by the end of the season.

“We always respect the opposition and we have a game plan with what we want to do. A lot of hard work goes into

that from all the staff and this won’t be any different.

“The first game, we set the tone against Derby County and got off with a win. We were disappointing at home last year with six wins all season and we have matched that already. We want to win more and make the fans proud of us.”
