Celtic’s Champions League Play Off opponents are predicted by Football Meets Data.

The analytics and modeling are becoming increasingly precise after six rounds of games, and according to Football Meets Data, Celtic will place 19th in the Champions League.

Obviously, the goal of that placement is to defeat Young Boys on Matchday 7 in order to move the hoops to 12 points, which gives them a 99.9% chance of finishing in the top 24.

In the second leg, teams ranked 9–16 will be drawn to play clubs ranked 17–24 at home against the team with the highest ranking.

As of right now, Celtic appears to be around the 17th to 24th spot, making Juventus, AC Milan, and the two Mardid clubs potential opponents for a spot in the Round of 16.
With Aston Villa and Borussia Dortmund in the elite top eight spots and three of the teams they have faced predicted to finish in the bottom four, Celtic’s group of eight opponents appears to be highly polarized.
As anticipated, Celtic will host the first leg of the Play Off Round in February if they place between 17th and 24th. The victor advances to the Round of 16 in March.

With the automatic entry that the Scottish champions have enjoyed for the past three seasons coming to an end, that scenario would give Celtic 10 Champions League matches in a season for the first time ever and boost their coefficient, which will almost certainly see them seeded through next season’s qualifiers.

To advance to the 36 group the following season, the top two teams in the SPFL Premiership will need to compete in qualifiers.
