“Hopefully” – Taylor Gardner-Hickman drops claim on his Birmingham City future

“Hopefully”: Taylor Gardner-Hickman drops claim on his Birmingham City future

It has been stated that Taylor Gardner-Hickman intends to persuade Birmingham City to reach a long-term contract with Bristol City.

This happened as Birmingham advanced to the Round of 16 of the EFL Trophy following a 2-1 victory over Exeter City on the road on Tuesday night. The 22-year-old spoke Birmingham Live about his goals for the rest of the season.

As one of 18 permanent or temporary additions during Chris Davies’ first transfer window at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park, the versatile midfielder has made an immediate impression on Blues supporters with a variety of reliable performances since joining on loan from the Championship team.

Speaking after the game at St. James’ Park, Gardner-Hickman expressed his hope that the team will continue to pay attention to his on-field and in-game performances. He also mentioned how crucial it has been for the team to return to the West Midlands after his previous development with West Bromwich Albion.

The midfielder said, “I’m a Blues player for now and hopefully I show enough on the pitch and around the training ground to make them want to keep me on!” in reference to his immediate future in B9. Let’s see what occurs.

“It has been easier for me to settle in since moving down from Bristol and being among relatives. I got settled right away, and the boys have been quite courteous to me.

After initially filling in at right-back due to an early-season setback for Ethan Laird, Gardner-Hickman has grown in popularity with the Bluenoses despite putting up a number of strong performances. He is willing to play a variety of positions in midfield and defence.

Since then, he has played in his natural midfield position before switching back to left-back because of Alex Cochrane’s injury received during last weekend’s 2-1 victory over Barnsley.

Gardner-Hickman went on to say, “I love performing in front of these fans.””Our fan base is really strong. They deserve praise for making the three-and-a-half-four-hour journey, no matter how lengthy it took today. I feel like we have a great relationship, and they showed up in their numbers.

A permanent deal for Taylor Gardner-Hickman would be a huge benefit to Birmingham City

Chris Davies

Even while it’s unclear if a long-term agreement can be reached with the Robins, it would be another step in the right direction for the Blues.

Gardner-Hickman’s first 16 appearances have demonstrated that he has a ceiling far beyond League One, and the initial loan signing was in line with the preseason goals of putting together a team capable of contending for an instant return to the second division.

Davies obviously thinks highly of the flexible player, as evidenced by the fact that he started 12 of those games in a range of positions. Gardner-Hickman has also expressed his satisfaction with the transfer to B9 for a number of reasons.

However, it would be reasonable to think that Liam Manning and the Bristol City management may try to drive a hard bargain given his impressive play and the fact that his contract at Ashton Gate expires in the summer of 2027.
