BBC Sports 100% duels lost: 3-pass Celtic man was even worse than Hatate in the UCL.
Celtic extended their Champions League unbeaten run to four games with a hard-fought 0-0 draw away to Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night. The Hoops did not win the three points, but they averted defeat and have now lost only one of their six competition matches, against Borussia Dortmund. Brendan Rodgers’ team had 69% possession but only seven shots on goal, unable to produce a single ‘big chance’ to score.

There were a number of underwhelming performers for the Hoops with their work in possession, with Reo Hatate one of the stars who struggled in Croatia.
Reo Hatate’s performance against Dinamo Zagreb
Rodgers chose to start Paulo Bernardo and Hatate alongside captain Callum McGregor, putting Luke McCowan and Arne Engels on the bench, and his starting did not provide much in terms of skill on the ball. The three of them combined for one chance in the entire encounter, which came from McGregor, and no ‘big opportunities’ were generated at all.
Hatate was especially wasteful with the ball at his feet. He finished the game with a pass success rate of only 71%, whilst the captain completed 97% of his passes and Bernardo completed 87% of his passes, and he lost possession 18 times. The Japan international did, however, win five of his eight duels and made two tackles and one block, demonstrating that he fought hard out of possession to save a point for his team. However, there was one Celtic player who performed worse than Hatate on Tuesday night, as they battled both on and off the ball.
Kyogo Furuhashi’s struggles against Dinamo Zagreb
Kyogo Furuhashi was chosen ahead of Adam Idah from the start, which was understandable given his superb goal against Hibernian on Saturday, but he did not capitalise on his opportunity.
