Leeds’ transfer position on Meslier is made public, and the Ligue 1 team finds out what could entice the keeper.

Leeds United is not likely to sell Illan Meslier during the January transfer window, according to TEAMtalk, but the Rennes-affiliated goalkeeper might be enticed by a particular opportunity.

With Daniel Farke’s team presently sitting in second place in the Championship standings, Leeds is attempting to return to the Premier League for the second time.Given that the Frenchman has been Elland Road’s top pick since the 2020–21 campaign, Meslier is probably going to play a significant role in that bid.

The 6′ 5in goalie’s contract expires in the summer of 2026, but according to recent sources, Ligue 1 team Rennes is interested in signing him in early 2025.

Given that first-choice Steve Mandanda becomes 40 next year, TEAMtalk can confirm that Rennes is thinking of making a move for Meslier since they need a new goalie.

According to our sources, Leeds is not interested in losing the 24-year-old next month, in part because they would need to find a replacement. He is content at Elland Road and is working to get them promoted to the English Premier League.

But if the chance to play for a team in Europe ever presents itself, the former France Under-21 player might take some time to reflect. Rennes, who finished 12th in Ligue 1 and played in the Europa League the previous season, might not be able to play in Europe in 2025–2026.
