Rangers in really strange new Ibrox hire as Van Bronckhorst comparison made

Rangers in really strange new Ibrox hire as Van Bronckhorst comparison made.

Derek Ferguson finds it “really strange” that incoming new Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart is not starting his position until December 16.

Rangers announced the appointment of former Manchester United manager Stewart on their official website on November 25. However, he will not begin his official duties at Ibrox until after this week’s Europa League games against Tottenham and Celtic in the Scottish League Cup final. According to The Herald last month [25 November], the unusual start date is likely due to a desire to get the high-profile Celtic fixture out of the way first. Ferguson told Ibrox News exclusively about the appointment: “I always find it unusual when you make an appointment and they don’t start for three or four weeks.”I believe it happened to Giovanni van Bronckhorst as well. His first game, he was seated in the stands. I find that quite bizarre. If you’ve been appointed by a football team, get started right away. It’s a very unusual one. “But we are looking for a guy with extensive experience, solid expertise, and good contacts. He’s already spoken with the management, which is vital. He won’t be there until the 16th, but he has spoken with the management already.

It’s important because he needs to suss out the manager, find out if they’re going to be able to have a working relationship, and if he can see him being the guy to take Rangers forward. I like the appointment, but I’d have liked him to start the job a bit sooner.”

Rangers having to be patient with Patrick Stewart appointment

As Ferguson pointed out, it’s surprising that Stewart didn’t start the job right away. It implies the Gers will remain without a CEO, which is plain unacceptable. When you consider the ludicrous scenario surrounding the chairman search, it’s safe to assume that things aren’t going well behind the scenes at Ibrox right now.

The good news is that by this time next week, Rangers will have someone who appears to have some experience as CEO. The focus will next shift to appointing a capable chairman, who will hopefully bring some stability on the field.
