‘Not particularly convincing’ – Sheffield Wednesday vs Blackburn Rovers prediction: The72
Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers meet in the Championship on Tuesday night as both sides look to claim a big win.
Sheffield Wednesday come into their midweek clash against Blackburn Rovers off the back of a 1-1 draw with Preston North End on Saturday afternoon.
While perhaps not the result Danny Rohl and co had hoped for, it extended their unbeaten run in the Championship to four, winning two and drawing two. This welcome little streak leaves them 9th in the table, five points away from the play-off places.
Hillsborough hasn’t been the happiest of home grounds though, with six points from the last six games putting Wednesday among the weaker sides on their own turf.
Blackburn Rovers meanwhile are flying, making it four consecutive Championship wins with a narrow 1-0 away win against Hull City at the weekend.
Some may have expected John Eustace and co to have fallen away by this point in the campaign but with the hectic winter schedule underway, they still occupy an impressive 6th place with 31 points from 18 games.
Rovers will feel this is another good opportunity to get a win on the board but should be aware Sheffield Wednesday are capable of more than they have shown on home turf of late.

“I’ve got a feeling this is going to be a really narrow game. Blackburn Rovers have built this impressive run on a foundation of great defensive work and while not particularly prolific in front of goal, they’ve been able to find enough to wins.
“Hillsborough has been a decent place for Championship sides to head to too, though Sheffield Wednesday are unbeaten in four and aren’t to be underestimated by any means. However, they are not particularly convincing in front of goal at times.
“As such, I wouldn’t be all that surprised if this ends goalless. Perhaps if there’s only one goal in it, I’d lean towards Blackburn getting it to make it five in a row.
