Blackburn Rovers are poised to welcome back their captain against Sheffield Wednesday, but he is not the only one who might return.
Rovers captain Lewis Travis was suspended for the trip to Hull City over the weekend after picking up five yellow cards, but the midfielder is expected to return to the starting lineup on Tuesday night, just like Barry Bannan.
Another player missed the 1-0 win over Hull due to injury. Harry Pickering has played consistently for John Eustace this season, starting all three Championship triumphs leading up to their visit to the MKM Stadium, so his absence due to a minor injury will be unfortunate.
But it doesn’t look that his injury will keep him out for long, with Eustace speculating that he might be in contention for the game at Hillsborough tomorrow night rather than entering the club’s list of walking wounded.
“Picky missed out due to a minor injury he sustained in training on Thursday,” he told The Lancashire Telegraph. “It’s a hamstring problem, but I believe he’ll be back by Tuesday. You can see the squad is fairly light; we had two very young academy players on the bench today, which was fantastic. “They deserved to be there.”
Wednesday host Blackburn at 7.45pm on Tuesday, looking to extend their four-game unbeaten streak and secure their first home win in over a month.
