BBC Sports ‘Up there’… Adam Idah says ‘amazing’ Celtic teammate is the best he’s ever played with after Hibs win.
Celtic’s win over Hibs wasn’t the most polished performance of the season by the Bhoys but it did get the job done.
Celtic’s Arne Engels and Kyogo Furuhashi scored two goals each, while Hibs star Joe Newell added another as Brendan Rodgers’ side extended their advantage at the top of the league. With a nine-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table and a game in hand, Celtic are well-positioned to retain their crown this season. And Adam Idah believes much of this is down to one of his Celtic teammates.
Adam Idah lauds Celtic hero as one of the best he’s ever played with
The Republic of Ireland international was on media duties following Celtic’s victory over Hibs and used the opportunity to laud Kasper Schmeichel for his man-of-the-match performance against the Easter Road club.
When asked if the Dane is the best custodian he’s worked with, Idah told Celtic TV, “I believe so. He is up there. “I’ve played with some great goalkeepers, but witnessing what he does on a daily basis and in games has been fantastic. “And I believe everyone has seen it today. The rescues he makes are spectacular. It gives us the confidence to go and try to help him out and make him keep a clean sheet.”
How many clean sheets Kasper Schmeichel has for Celtic this season
Since taking over for former Celtic hero Joe Hart, Kasper Schmeichel has been a consistent performer for the club this season. Aside from the Borussia Dortmund game, Schmeichel hasn’t conceded many goals in a Celtic jersey this season, bolstering Rodgers’ prospects for European success and another treble.
And after yesterday’s win against Hibs, Schmeichel proved once again just how important he is for Celtic as the Bhoys’ relentless start to the season continues.
