Magnificent’ – BBC pundit stunned by Rangers defender live on air v Ross County.
John Robertson labelled James Tavernier “magnificent” after his goal for Rangers against Ross County on Sunday.
The Gers dominated at the Global Energy Stadium, leaving with a 3-0 victory in the Scottish Premiership on 8 December.
Tavernier got his second league goal of the season as he rounded off the game with a delightful strike in the 86th minute.
Robertson was left stunned on BBC Radio Scotland [8 December, 13:44], saying: “He’s got a golf swing as his signature celebration there and in golfing terms, that is a magnificent stinger of a drive there.
“He’s got his foot over it, we’re right behind it, he’s bent it with the outside of his right foot, controlled it, a little fade into the corner from left to right.
“What an absolutely magnificent strike to put the game to bed.”

Despite being 33-years-old and facing his doubters, Tavernier has been counted in recent weeks since regaining his place after being dropped by Philippe Clement.
The skipper got his first league goal of the season in the week as his side thrashed Kilmarnock 6-0 at Ibrox and that clearly gave him some momentum as they came into Dingwall with that confidence to ease to another three points.
Despite starting from deep, Tavernier was able to contribute again with an excellent curling strike with the outside of his boot to make it 3-0.
Clement will be hoping that his side has started to turn a corner here and will see an improved run of form in the second half of the season. If his captain can keep up his standard of performance too, that will no doubt help the side achieve their aims.
With Tottenham and Celtic coming up within days, Tavernier and the Rangers squad will have to be at their very best to make it a positive week.
