Aston Villa talent linked with Derby County transfer as January talk intensifies.

The latest Aston Villa news from Birmingham Live includes what is being said about Louie Barry, who is now flying for Stockport County.

According to sources, Derby County are interested in signing Aston Villa’s Louie Barry during the January transfer window.

Barry is presently on loan at Stockport County in League One and is in excellent form, having already scored 15 goals this season and another against Exeter City yesterday.

Villa may recall Barry in January, causing concern among Stockport fans. If that happens, he may be sent to the Championship to continue his development. And now Alan Nixon claims Derby are interested in signing the talented 21-year-old when the transfer market opens next month.

Derby are looking to enhance their forward line, and Barry can play out width or through the middle. Head coach Paul Warne has already stated that he wants to strengthen his attack with Jerry Yates, on loan from Swansea and now the top scorer with four goals.

However, Derby will have to release players in order to bring them in, as the club is currently at a 25-man squad maximum.

Warne remarked this week: “I believe everyone who watches us play can see what is good and what is missing. And I believe we miss a goal threat. And I’ve said it almost since I’ve been here, and to be fair, since Didzy (David McGoldrick) left.

“To put it simply, we miss more goal threats. And we’re trying, or at least I’m hoping, to accomplish it in January.

However, as always, there are many factors that are both within and beyond my control. I have another meeting tomorrow and another one Monday, which I hope we can strengthen.

Because if we get out of January with the same players – which I doubt we will, by the way – a number of them will have left. That’s the nature of football. But there will undoubtedly be fresh faces.

“But I don’t want new faces that won’t help us. There’s no use in bringing in someone new merely for the sake of variety. I do not want that. But I’m hoping that we’ll be able to secure a couple more targets, particularly those that will strengthen us.”
