Sky Sports Hamza Igamane explains ‘easy’ transfer decision as Nils Koppen looks to strike it rich with Rangers golden boy.
Rangers relieved they had struck gold when Alfredo Morelos set records in Europe and his stock rose. El Bufalo appeared poised to set a club record sum for the Ibrox club, only for poor discipline to cause his form and fitness to plummet – the fact that he is now linked with a move to Peru speaks volumes. The player trading strategy will only be effective if Rangers can buy low and sell high, as well as find gems like Hamza Igamane from all across the world of football.
Hamza Igamane reveals how Rangers move came about
Speaking to Rangers TV via Abdellah Asname, a Moroccan restaurant owner in Glasgow who has been assisting the striker with his transition and interpreting at Auchenhowie, the 22-year-old stated that it didn’t take him long to say yes: “My manager came and asked me about Rangers and they said they had come in with an offer for me to move to Scotland,” Igamane recalled. “My reaction was positive, but I wanted to speak with my family at the time, so saying yes was an easy decision.
“My English is getting better, I know if I have a task to do, I have to finish it and that is what I am doing,” Igamane continued on his efforts to adapt and learn English.
“I am progressing, I am happy to to be learning another language, and it is good.
“I understand a lot of things in the dressing room and it is fantastic. I hear a lot of words, and I am happy with that.
“The training is fantastic, I am getting there especially after an injury I had in Morocco, coming back here it wasn’t easy but now I am feeling great, I am adapting to the sessions, and I am really happy.”
The mistake Rangers have been making with player trading
Rangers’ main issue isn’t scouting good young players; it’s that they’ve been signing the wrong ones. There is a large list of individuals who were approached, including Danilho Doekhi, Xavi Simons, and Tijjani Reijnders, but Rangers were unable to complete the transactions for various reasons. A reported £1.7 million was spent to recruit Igamane, and it is hoped that he would have an even greater influence than Morelos while also earning the club a sizable profit. With a goal contribution every 95 minutes this season, including his strike against Kilmarnock, he is on the correct path.
Signing players before they become famous has to become the norm given Nils Koppen’s budget, and it appears that he has hit gold with Igamane.
