Kuching city hold KL fc to 1 – 1 draw, var involve in two incidents

KUALA LUMPUR: In Sunday’s (May 12) Super League match at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Cheras here,

Kuala Lumpur (KL) City FC had to settle for a point after losing to 10 men in their 1-1 draw against Kuching City FC.

Two pivotal moments featured the Video Assistant Referee (VAR): Kuching City’s equaliser in the 14th minute and

Adrijan Rudovic, KL City’s new defender, being sent off in the 39th minute.

After senior defender Mohamad Kamal Azizi Mohamad Zabri had to be carried off and replaced by J. Partiban in the

fourth minute due to an injury he sustained in a collision with an opponent, KL City coach Miroslav Kuljanac also

took an early hit.

However, Kuching City’s equaliser through Yuki Tanigawa’s finish two minutes later was disallowed after the City

Boys team’s captain, Paulo Josue, opened the scoring with a stunning goal from outside the penalty box in the 12th minute.

Pedro Henrique’s goal in the 19th minute put the visiting squad, led by Aidil Sharin Sahak, back on equal terms,

demonstrating that the decision did not depress their spirits.

After a review on the monitor, Logeswaran reversed Rudovic’s yellow card and gave him a red card for a risky

challenge on Kuching City forward Jordan Minta in the 34th minute, involving VAR once more.

Meanwhile, Sabah FC were held to a goalless draw against Penang FC at the Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu.

Sabah under the guidance of Datuk Ong Kim Swee appeared dangerous with quick attacks on both sides through

Saddil Ramdani and Daniel Ting, but a series of beautiful crosses failed to produce any tangible result.

Saddil’s corner rebounded to Gabriel Peres in stoppage time, giving the home team their best opportunity, but

custodian Sikh Izhan Nazrel Sikh Azman made a spectacular save with his header.

Technical difficulties prevented the game from taking place at the Likas Stadium, where it was originally planned to

be played using VAR for the first time.

Mohd Joehari Mohd Ayub, a member of the Malaysian Football League (MFL) Board of Directors, presented Sabah’s

captain, Park Tae-su, with the trophy award for the best starting eleven of the previous season before to the start of the game.
