“Nowhere near the”level”—Norwich City told to take transfer action in January

Since taking over as manager in the summer, Johannes Hoff Thorup’s team has seen many ups and downs, leading to a mixed start to the current campaign.

The club may be able to get closer to their top six chasing opponents during the January transfer window.

Additions might be vital in their fight for a spot in the Premier League if money is available to spend.

Norwich urged to target key areas in January

Zeke Downes, a fan commentator for FLW’s Norwich, stated that he would want to see up to three new players signed by the team in January.

He has emphasised that the defensive midfield and offence are two areas that require attention.

“I think a striker and a winger would be great in a perfect world,” Downes told Football League World.

We also need a defensive midfielder, but ever since [Alexander] Tettey left, we’ve been pleading for one.

“Kenny McLean has filled in for us, but we’ve also seen what occurs when he’s not on the pitch.

“He is truly missed, Jacob.” That guy isn’t Sorensen; he doesn’t appear to be close to McLean’s level.

Even so, he isn’t a pure defensive midfielder, which is sometimes what you need, particularly when we’re in the Premier League or getting ready for a promotion push.

“That defensive midfielder is absolutely necessary; you cannot play with three subpar defensive midfielders because you will be exposed.”

Signings at Norwich could be a big difference-maker

Borja Sainz, who has scored 15 goals this season, is presently Norwich’s main goal scorer.

It might be a good use of their resources to add another forward to give the American more competition given Josh Sargent’s injury problems.

Given that McLean will turn 33 next month, it would also be wise to try to add a new midfield player to strengthen the team’s defence.

Although the exact amount they will need to spend in January is unknown, Norwich should keep an eye out for any signings that might be crucial to their promotion campaign.
