Celtic can extend their lead at the top of the Premiership standings on Wednesday night in Aberdeen.
Brendan Rodgers’ side leads the league by four points with a game in hand and will be confident of securing three points at Pittodrie Stadium.
Rodgers made several changes on Saturday, and Celtic easily defeated Ross County with five goals, following their midweek Champions League point.
Liam Scales, who was previously benched by Austin Trusty, made his way into the XI and scored.
Cameron Carter-Vickers is often recognized as Celtic’s primary defender, frequently partnering with the Irishman.
Scales’ benching is not due to any wrongdoing on his part, but rather due to Trusty’s impressive performance.
Barry Ferguson says Auston Trusty starting to prove why Celtic signed him
Trusty had previously played for Arsenal as a teenager and Sheffield United in the Premier League, so this is not surprising.
The 26-year-old can play anywhere on the backline, but the Bhoys have only seen him play in the heart of the defence so far.
Now that he has settled in, Barry Ferguson told Go Radio that ‘you are starting to see the quality’ and that he is proving ‘why Celtic paid that money’ to bring him in.
“Now, he is starting to get game time, he is playing week in and week out, you can see him getting stronger and stronger,” Ferguson went on.
“He’s a huge, powerful guy. He is speedy and has undoubtedly been an excellent addition for Celtic. You’re starting to see the quality and why Celtic paid that price.”
Trusty’s stats for Celtic
Trusty still has a long way to go, including scoring his first goal and winning his first trophy in those iconic green and white colours.
Celtic face Rangers in the League Cup final later this month, so he won’t have long to wait.
But so far, WhoScored has given his Premiership performances a 7.24 rating.
