He has scored 126 goals, won every major title, and guided the squad to the 2022 Europa League Final.
Many supporters want him out following another season of league toil, and boss Philippe Clement has made it obvious that he’ll no longer be a first selection, with his appearances now rationed.
Clement is unconcerned with Tavernier’s feelings. He simply has to cope with it.
The 33-year-old returned to the squad for Sunday’s 1-0 victory over St Johnstone.
Tavernier confessed he is dissatisfied with not playing every game, but he also stated that he will stay as professional as possible.
The Premier Sports Cup Final versus Celtic on December 15 is fast approaching.
Tavernier added: “You certainly want to play every single game. It’s just in your nature.
“But there’s a point when you have to be professional and truly aid the team if you’re not.
“And when asked to play, you’ve got to obviously make an impact.
“That’s what’s required of all the players.
“Anybody who’s asked to play has got to give everything. So that’s the minimum.
“What I have done over the years, I’ve kept on asking questions, kept on striving to be better, to keep putting in the numbers, and obviously, still trying to do that.
“I’m more hungry than ever.
“Every season that comes, I’m always hungry to outdo myself.
“So I’ll always continue to push as much as possible to better myself.”
Staying into the 2025-26 campaign would put Tavernier into testimonial territory.
He’s consistently been linked to a move to the Middle East.
But Tav said: “I’ve got another season after this, so still more time.
