Wolves £35.6m transfer flop wanted by Brentford and two Premier League rivals

During the January window, the Wolves transfer committee might have to make a decision.

According to reports, three of Wolves’ Premier League rivals are interested in signing Fabio Silva.

The Spanish newspaper Fichajes claims that Brentford, Southampton, and Bournemouth are all considering Silva. During his season-long loan, the 22-year-old native of the Canary Islands has performed admirably for Las Palmas.

In 11 La Liga games this season, he has five goals and an assist. He was called up to the Portuguese national squad

due to his performance, and he made his Nations League debut last month in the 1-1 tie with Croatia.

Silva’s £35.6 million transfer to Wolves has regrettably failed to benefit either team. He participated in nine goals

during his 37 appearances in his debut season under Nuno Espirito Santo, but after he left and Bruno Lage took his

place, he was unable to

Fabio Silva has looked a "different player" at Las Palmas, believes Portugal manager Roberto Martinez.

For the past three and a half seasons, the former Porto attacker has been on loan at Rangers, PSV, and Anderlecht.

Silva acknowledged in the summer that he wasn’t sure he wanted to join Wolves and that he had no say in the issue

because Porto wanted him gone.

He claimed, “They shoved me towards the Wolves.” I had no other option. Perhaps the other clubs—a league that

would have given me more time and patience—would have been better for my growth.

“I was told if I said no to Wolves, then I wouldn’t play for the first team at Porto. I was only 18 when a team decided

to offer £35 million. At the time, Porto weren’t in a great position financially but I still didn’t have a say in the matter.

I got a phone saying, ‘You have a flight tomorrow.’ That was the end of it. The club was aware of my affection for

them. “You have an opportunity to give your club £35 million,” they stated. You can provide financial assistance. I was unable to refuse.

TEAMtalk reported back in August that Wolves would entertain offers for Silva of about £17.1 million. Given that

Bournemouth, Brentford, and the Saints might be in the same league as them and his recent improvement in form in

Spain, they might demand a little more because they don’t want to bolster a league competitor.

However, his contract expires in the summer of 2026, therefore it is highly doubtful that he will be able to force.
