Tommy Conway claims that playing with the Liverpool loanee is a “striker’s dream” and enjoys taking advantage of the “carnage” that his close friend Ben Doak has generated.

Conway’s Scotland teammate Doak set up both of his Boro goals in Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Hull City, which led to

the teenage winger making a light-hearted remark in the locker room following the match.

Since joining Teesside from Bristol City in the summer, Conway has scored eight goals in just 14 games, which is a

fantastic start to his career. And when Doak is playing at his very best and creating opportunities, his job is undoubtedly made simpler.

“I think you can already see how it’s benefiting both of us,” he said.

“Me and Manu have a great relationship off the pitch. It doesn’t matter who plays, we’re all behind each other.

Before the game, we’ll always approach one another and wish each other luck. In essence, you have to be prepared,

give it your best, and eventually score goals for the team since we both know we’ll be involved at some time during the game.

“When he enters before me, there isn’t any animosity or anything like that. When he scores, I’m thrilled for him

because it helps us as a team and gets us closer to the path we want to go.

Boro have won four of their last five games ahead of a crunch spell against rivals Burnley, Leeds and Millwall.

“We had a little bit of a blip in midweek, so it was important to get back on track,” Conway stated.

“I don’t think anyone saw that tiny hiccup coming, especially because we had just scored 15 points in three games.

We needed to recover. To get back on track, it doesn’t really get much better than three goals—two for me and the victory.

We may need to start adjusting to the fact that we must win when we are expected to. On Wednesday, we didn’t win,
