Todd Cantwell has scored his first goal since leaving Rangers.

The English midfielder departed Ibrox in the summer following a public disagreement with manager Philippe Clement.

Despite not admitting it, their relationship in Glasgow deteriorated shortly after the Belgian took charge.

Cantwell was a crucial player under Michael Beale, but Clement frequently played him out of position or ignored him entirely.

He was notably substituted before half-time in one game.

In a news conference following the pre-season game against Birmingham City, Clement stated that Cantwell requested a move.

Cantwell challenged this view.

Cantwell hinted at a potential return to the Rangers in the future.

In any event, he seemed to like life at his new club.

Cantwell has been playing consistently for Blackburn Rovers and scored his first goal tonight.

In Rovers’ Championship match against Leeds United, the 26-year-old scored from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute.

Cantwell scored a goal past Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier, giving Blackburn a 1-0 lead at Ewood Park.

He then launched his infamous dancing celebration, which used to irk Clement.
