Sky Sports Todd Cantwell feelings clear as Rangers feud with Philippe Clement finally put behind him for ‘love’.

The playmaker is showing his best form at Blackburn after a nightmare end to his time at Ibrox.

According to jubilant John Eustace, Todd Cantwell now feels “at home” with Blackburn Rovers after leaving Rangers this summer.

The playmaker was the hero for Rovers, scoring the game-winning penalty against Leeds United to cap off a soaring start at Ewood Park following a disappointing spell at Ibrox. Cantwell, 26, had a strained relationship with manager Philippe Clement, who replaced Michael Beale. As a result, he demanded a transfer from the Scottish Premiership club.

He was left out of the first-team plans and trained with the B squad before being sold to the English Championship club on the last day of the summer transfer window. However, during his stay, Clement famously sent Cantwell off after only 35 minutes of the Europa League match against Aris Limassol, before criticizing his lack of width on the right wing during the match against the Cypriot club.

Following the Englishman’s leave, both sides suggested that the complete story was still to come out. Cantwell also hinted at a possible return to Rangers. However, it looks that will be a long way off, as current manager Eustace heaps praise on the midfielder.

When asked if he was “confident” that Cantwell would score from 12 yards, he told Rovers TV: “Yes, I was confident, and I’m delighted for him to score his first goal for this football club.” I think his performance was excellent.

“He’s become better and better, and he’s a key player for us, providing us with a base on which to create and play. As you can see, he is an important element of our football team’s evolution. I believe he is now comfortable here. He’s really popular among the players. He’s a fantastic young man, and it’s critical that he continues to grow and improve alongside the rest of the team.”
