‘Not good enough’—West’ Brom verdict delivered by reporter after Preston North End result

Lewis Cox, a reporter, says West Brom’s performance versus Preston North End was “not good enough.”

Over the weekend, West Brom and the Lilywhites drew 1-1 away at Deepdale.

The Baggies took the lead in the first-half through attacker Karlan Grant, only for the visitors to equalise in the

second-half through Emil Riis Jakobsen.

“It is the first time in this period of just one win in 12 games—and nine draws—and also the first time in Corberan’s

two-and-a-half-year tenure that supporters have let their negative feelings known to that level,” journalist Cox wrote

in the Express & Star after rendering his conclusion.

It doesn’t call for a hasty response or the exaggeration of a moment of great significance. The second half was not

good enough, therefore Albion supporters were right to jeer. Supporters will become agitated as they watch their

team’s top scorer, who has scored ten goals, plods off while they work hard with little chance of a goal or an

uncommon victory.

West Brom draw specialists

West Brom is going through a really trying time right now, and they have developed a grating drawing game habit.

They are having trouble putting teams away and have drawn nine of their previous ten games.

The Baggies are a difficult team to break down and are very good at the back. This term, they have only lost twice. In front of the goal though, they must be more inventive and brutal.

Carlos Corberan’s team remains in seventh place, two points behind Watford, and out of the playoffs.

However, if they are unable to begin winning additional games as quickly as possible, they run the risk of falling further down the standings.

The Midlands team has the opportunity to add more personnel.

What now?

At Preston, West Brom’s supporters jeered them off, and their players must respond.

This is the first time Corberan has experienced any kind of heat from the supporters, as Cox hinted.

He should feel a sense of accomplishment because he led the Baggies to the playoffs in the previous season.

In an attempt to get back to winning ways, West Brom will play their first game this weekend at home against Sheffield United. Next Tuesday, they play Coventry City on their home pitch.
