How much West Brom spend on wages every week on average (Estimated)

West Bromwich Albion entered a new era at the turn of the year as Shilen Patel acquired a majority stake in the West Midlands side.

This ended the miserable and long-running Guochuan Lai era at The Hawthorns, with Patel’s 87.8% purchase of the club in February instilling new hope in B71.

That has been echoed by a very long period of steady wins and performances under Carlos Corberan’s management over the last two years, with the Baggies emerging as one of the Championship’s strongest forces since the Spaniard took over in October 2022.

Albion supporters will believe the club has turned a corner in recent years, as Patel has made significant short-term strides, including a seven-figure investment in the training ground, wiping out a £5 million loan from Wisdom Smart, and, most recently, agreeing to pay out a historic £3.7 million figure left by former chairman Jeremy Peace in 2014.

With all of these considerations considered, the Florida-born businessman’s guidance has resulted in significantly increased financial stability.

With that in mind, Football League World examined the predicted salary structure in this section of the West Midlands.

West Bromwich Albion’s current weekly wage structure

According to Capology, the current West Brom payroll sees the aforementioned Patel pay out an estimated £441,500 per week.

This brings the average weekly pay for Corberan’s 24-man senior team to £17,660.

The annual payroll at The Hawthorns is expected to cost the club £22,958,000 over the course of the usual 46-game Championship season.

That being said, the average annual pay for the Baggies squad is £918,320.

West Bromwich Albion’s highest earner at present is Everton loanee

Mason Holgate for West Brom vs Burnley

The main reason for such high figures is the loan signing of Mason Holgate from Everton, who is by far the top earner in the Albion side, with an estimated weekly salary of £70,000.

This puts him the Championship’s joint-highest earning, alongside Leeds United’s Patrick Bamford.

The versatile defender returned to the club following a loan spell in the 2018/19 season, during which Albion were defeated by Aston Villa in the play-off semi-finals.

West Bromwich Albion’s five top earners

Weekly Wage

Mason Holgate (loan)

£70,000

Daryl Dike

£32,308

Darnell Furlong

£25,000

Jed Wallace

£25,000

Paddy McNair (loan

£25,000

All statistics are estimated according to Capology.

After a delayed start to his current loan term due to injury, Holgate made his second appearance for the club in a goalless draw with Cardiff City on October 26th, and has forged a good partnership at the heart of Corberan’s defence with Torbjorn Heggem in the absence of Kyle Bartley and Semi Ajayi.

Daryl Dike, who is currently injured, is the club’s highest earner on a permanent contract, earning £32,308.

How West Brom’s wage structure compares to their divisional rivals

West Brom fans at The Hawthorns

Only two of the 24 Championship teams have a greater weekly pay spend than Albion, which is £441,500.

These include Burnley, who pay £596,000, and Leeds United, who top the rankings with £708,000.

Albion are also only in third place by about £2,000, with Sheffield United just below them in this field.

Based on pay structures across the division, it is reasonable that many people expect the Baggies to make the play-offs for the second consecutive season.
