Celtic put on a very professional performance in the Scottish Premiership, defeating Ross County at Parkhead.
The Bhoys were relentless and left Don Cowie breathless at Celtic Park after 45 minutes of thrashing The Staggies.
Brendan Rodgers made six changes to Celtic’s lineup, dropping Arne Engels and Nicolas Kuhn to the bench for the visit of Ross County.
The Celtic manager was clearly looking to freshen up the team after their Champions League outing against Club Brugge, but by leaving out the record signing and his most potent offensive threat, Rodgers reveals why the Hoops duo stayed unstripped for kick-off.
Brendan Rodgers shares why Nicolas Kuhn & Arne Engels sat out Celtic’s win vs Ross County
Rodgers told the BBC, “I think it’s just giving a freshness to the team I trust the squad for today, we want a big energy in the game. We don’t want to be waiting on the game.
“We have to go create it. For that, we will have players that can perhaps affect the game and add some intensity.
And on Celtic’s squad depth, Rodgers said, “I think that’s another area where we’ve strengthened this summer because you need it.
“You don’t want a drop off if you move from Europe to the league, or if you’re playing in games that may be in the league or the Champions League.
“So you want to be able to make modifications that influence the game. So that’s what the players have done exceptionally well. They enter the game. There is no drop-off. The intensity is there, and they are eager to come in and perform well.”
Luke McCowan stole the show, but there was another Celtic star over Ross County.
Luke McCowan was brilliant in Celtic’s 5-0 victory over Ross County, scoring and assisting on three occasions.
However, another player was outstanding and would have most likely been named man of the match on another day.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers made changes at Parkhead yesterday afternoon, giving Paulo Bernardo the start.
Bernardo played the entire 90 minutes and scored while creating four chances and taking three shots on goal.
Fotmob rated the Portuguese midfielder at 8.6, and he had 72 touches of the ball and 48 passes, 88% of which went to Celtic teammates.
Bernardo also had six touches in Ross County’s penalty area and four passes into the final third.
Defensively, the Portugal U21 captain was solid, recovering six balls, winning four duels, and doing four defensive actions.
