Pereira: “We will try to do everything to win”
Sporting Clube de Portugal faces CD Santa Clara on Matchday 12 of the Liga Portugal season this Saturday. Coach João Pereira spoke at the pre-match press conference.
He began by revealing that Zeno Debast will be accessible, then addressed the opponents.
“Cd Santa Clara is the league’s breakout team.” They are well-organized defensively, strong in offensive transitions, and solid tactically. We attempted to best prepare the players for victory,” he said.
“I cooperate with the technical committee, and we do everything we can to win. Coaches are always evaluated based on their results. “If we win tomorrow, things will be better, but I’m calm,” he added.
Pereira compared his preferred tactical system to Rúben Amorim’s and stated that he adopted it out of conviction. Anyone who has the chance to follow
The Under-23s and B team were aware that we were using the same setup, but they behaved differently. There are numerous comparable and related principles. The players understand. What occurred against Arsenal was a defeat, but in the second half, up until the penalty, we were always closer to making it 2-3 than 1-4, since we had opportunities. “The story would have been different then,” he reflected.
Regarding Marcus Edwards’ left-wing position against Arsenal, the coach admitted that “there are several players in the squad who can play in that position,” but expressed trust in the Englishman.
“Conrad Harder, Maxi Araújo, João Simões, and Daniel Bragança can all play there.” I choose my side based on the qualities of the game. I felt Edwards was the greatest option against Arsenal, and I still believe in him.”
After announcing João Simões’ return to the squad, Pereira discussed his approach to games.
“The first important test for this technical committee came against Amarante FC in their first game. It was a big game against Arsenal, and it will be the same with CD Santa Clara. Then it will be with Moreirense FC. The major game is always the following one. That’s how we have to think.”
