The Hoops may extend their lead at the top of the table even further because their two nearest competitors are not in play.
Brendan Rodgers demanded pace and intensity, and Celtic delivered. If their recent Champions League tie with Club Brugge left them feeling drained, six alterations can help.
And Ross County were completely outgunned here, with the champions cruising to a 5-0 victory. Liam Scales kicked off the celebrations, followed by goals from Luke McCowan, Paulo Bernardo, Callum McGregor, and Adam Idah.
Aberdeen are next, but with each passing game, Celtic appear to be in a league of their own. The Premiership title battle would be very close if Jimmy Thelin’s men beat Hearts and then Rodgers’ men, but everyone in Glasgow’s east end on Saturday saw a team that marched to their own music.
At the final whistle, Rodgers brought Cowie in for a cuddle, and County will not be the last team to suffer defeat against a side that has scored an eye-popping 40 goals in the league and it is not even December. Join us for a review of all the action at Celtic Park.
Celtic easily defeat Ross County.
Brendan Rodgers rotated his Celtic squad, and they thrashed Ross County 5-0 to go five points clear at the top of the Premiership table. The Hoops manager made six changes to his lineup following Wednesday’s Champions League draw with Club Brugge.
And FOUR of them came before halftime, as Celtics went ahead 5-0 to demolish the Highlanders. Replacements Liam Scales, Luke McCowan, Paulo Bernardo, and Adam Idah were all on target before Callum McGregor scored his sixth goal of the season, all from outside the box.
Fortunately for the visitors, the onslaught subsided after halftime, with County substitute goalie Jack Hamilton making a series of outstanding stops to keep the score low. Celts were disappointed not to add to the score, but happy to put daylight between themselves and the Dons – and open up a whopping 14-point lead over rivals Rangers. There was never any doubt here.
