Saturday’s defeat to Arsenal was undoubtedly the worst of the season, but that should not detract from how good the Gunners were on the day.
Nuno Espirito Santo was furious at his Nottingham Forest team’s defence, and rightfully so.

Forest have established such high defensive standards this season, and they once had the top defence in the Premier League.

Paul Merson, who has made an unusual prediction for the Ipswich game, believes another goal will be conceded this weekend.

Paul Merson makes interesting Nottingham Forest prediction

Last time out, Paul Merson almost had Arsenal’s outcome correct, predicting 3-1.

However, this time around, the game versus Ipswich Town will be very different.

The Tractor Boys spoiled Ruben Amorim’s welcome party at Portman Road, drawing 1-1 with Manchester United and perhaps winning.

It will not be an easy match at the City Ground. Liam Delap has been in inspirational form, and Omari Hutchinson is a major threat, so the defence will need to be at their best.

Interestingly, Merson anticipates a close game that will conclude 1-1 if he gets his way.

“I followed Nottingham Forest over the last few weeks, and I believed they were completely demolished in each of their last two matches. We were talking about them having a chance in Europe following their strong start, but Newcastle and Arsenal ripped them apart.

“Ipswich are unbeaten in their previous three games, and I was really impressed by their effort in the draw against Manchester United. I wouldn’t be surprised if Forest won this game, but I believe Ipswich will come away with a point. They are in a confident mood at the moment and might make life difficult for Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest legend calls for Liam Delap to be signed

Garry Birtles, a Nottingham Forest veteran, has advised Nuno Espirito Santo to recruit Liam Delap following his season-opening performance.

“I haven’t watched much of him, but you read and I’ve heard about him, and if he’s scoring goals at that level, we should be interested in him.

“He’s obviously got something, this level is the hardest in world football to score goals in and Ipswich are putting a great show on for the Premier League.”

However, Manchester City has a buy-back clause, and he is sure to be interested in most Premier League clubs, so it will not be easy.
