Liverpool’s Ben Doak is unstoppable as desperate teams try new tactic to beat him

Ben Doak, a Scottish sensational winger, is a tremendous talent for Liverpool.

He is presently playing on loan at Championship club Middlesbrough in order to obtain enough professional experience before he can join Arne Slot’s first team.

Apart from dominating the field at right flank under Boro boss Michael Carrick, Doak has also left a lasting impression on Steve Clarke, the manager of the Scottish national team, who has come to like the 19-year-old more and more.

Doak was at the forefront of Scotland’s two historic victories against Croatia and Poland during the most recent international break, most memorably forcing Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol to skate.

In that case, his performance against Middlesbrough continued after he contributed three assists against Luton Town and Queens Park Rangers early in the month.

He faces a very different situation after playing for his country, though, since teams believe they have discovered his weakness.

How opposition teams are stopping Doak

Middlesbrough’s three-game winning streak ended last night against Blackburn Rovers, and although the team’s performance left the supporters angry, they also felt a great deal of sorrow for Doak.

Rival teams have begun guarding the winger, who many supporters have dubbed “the next Messi,” with two or three players in an attempt to stop him. This effectively blocks off any offensive avenues and restricts his ability to use his strengths, which are his dribbling skills.

Bob (@BobP9000) posted on X (previously Twitter): “Very weak left-sided tonight and Doak was marked out of the game, but Blackburn moved the ball much quicker than us.”

Additionally, the Blackburn Rovers fan group (@blackburnfcfans) stated: “It’s great when supporters point the finger at a single player when the entire team was subpar. Passing it to Doak was your only strategy. You had nothing at all when he was marked out of the game. With ten other players on the field, it’s simple to make one the scapegoat.

Even while Doak will typically easily go past any defender he wants to in an attempt to inflict as much damage as possible on the field, things won’t always go his way, thus the rookie player may have a challenging learning curve.

Even so, he has shown tremendous skill with the ball, and the experience will make him a much more valuable player for Arne Slot when he rejoins the team after a loan next season.

For club and nation so far, Doak has one goal and four assists.
