“He’s happy there” – Pundit drops Carlos Corberan claim amid Leicester City update

The Foxes will replace Steve Cooper with Ruud van Nistelrooy, rather than Corberan, who was linked.

Guillem Balague reported that the Baggies’ manager was a top contender for the position.

However, he is expected to stay at the Hawthorns as the Premier League club chose for Van Nistelrooy.

Corberan has received high appreciation for his efforts with Albion, which he has led since October 2022.

Palmer believes Manchester United handled the arrival of Van Nistelrooy in the summer poorly, when the former

PSV Eindhoven manager joined Erik ten Hag’s coaching team.

The 58-year-old believes he should have departed with Ten Hag if he had been brought in as part of the coaching

staff, rather than as a potential replacement for his fellow Dutchman.

According to Palmer, Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to join Leicester City as their new head coach.

“And he should be in control of his first game, which is against Brentford on Saturday.

“Listen, as I already stated, I was dissatisfied with what transpired at Manchester United; but, this is only my

viewpoint; I am not aware of the facts.

“But Van Nistelrooy was brought in to Manchester United, and I always assumed he was brought in to replace Ten

Hag when he was fired, which was the case, so I dislike stuff like that.

“If he was brought into the club by Ten Hag, he should have departed with him.

“So obviously, if he’s brought in in the capacity that he was at the time, it makes things tough for someone like Ten Hag.

“I don’t know Ruud, he’s a Manchester United great, but I just didn’t like the circumstance that occurred.

“If Manchester United wanted Ten Hag out, they should’ve sacked him.”

Palmer feels Corberan is content at West Brom and is motivated to return the team to the Premier League with the

support of the new owners.

“So it looks like he’s going to get his opportunity, he did well as caretaker manager for Manchester United, albeit the

opposition were the opposition,” according to him.

“The players seem to like him, and he is a game legend, so we’ll see how it plays out.

“The West Brom hierarchy and fans will be pleased with the links established with Carlos Corberan.”

“He has expressed satisfaction with his liberty at West Brom.

“And as long as that remains the case, and he is given the opportunity to lead West Brom to the Premier League, I

believe he will be happy to do so.”

“He looks like a really genuine person.”

Palmer has cautioned Van Nistelrooy that the Leicester job will be challenging, which may indicate that Corberan’s

best option for the time being is to stay at West Brom.

“So, let’s see how Van Nistelrooy performs at Leicester City; I believe it’s a difficult ask, as it was for Steve Cooper.

“There isn’t much investment in the club, so it will be extremely tough for him to succeed there.

“Unless in January, and I’m thinking there will be conditions on him taking the job from his perspective, but if they

don’t have the money to spend, they don’t have the money.

“We’ll have to see, because at the moment they’ve sacked Steve Cooper and they’re in the bottom three, so we’ll see

how Ruud does.”

Corberan has done an outstanding job for West Brom, and it is not surprising that he has been linked with a Premier

League move.

The Midlands team should be relieved that they have been able to deter this interest for the time being, but it should

also serve as a caution.

Corberan deserves to be supported by the new owners, and the January transfer window will provide an excellent

opportunity to do so.

If they do not support Corberan, they may be unable to keep him when the next important position opens up.
