He’s happy there” pundit drop Carlos claim amid Leicester city update

Former Exeter City manager Matt Taylor to take leave of absence due to ongoing family emergency

Matt Taylor, former Exeter City manager, will take a leave of absence from his post as Bristol Rovers manager due to a family issue. Assistant manager Wayne Carlisle and first-team coach Dave Horseman will take over interim football duties.

Taylor managed the Grecians from 2018 until 2022, including their promotion from League Two. He also played for the club for four years, from 2007 to 2011.

It is unclear how long Taylor will be away from managing duties, but Rovers has asked that his and his family’s privacy be respected during this difficult time.

In an official statement, the club said: “Bristol Rovers can confirm that first-team manager Matt Taylor will take a leave of absence owing to an ongoing family issue.

“David Horseman and Wayne Carlisle will assume interim responsibility for all football duties.

“Everyone at Bristol Rovers is thinking and praying for Matt and his family at this tough time, and we hope to see him back at work as soon as possible.

“The club will be making no further comment and asks that the privacy of Matt and his family are respected during this time.”

The Gas will face Barnsley in the FA Cup second round at Oakwell on Saturday. They also have League One fixtures away at Leyton Orient on Tuesday, December 3 and at home to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, December 7.
