A student who failed his exams allegedly went on a knife rampage at a college in China, killing at least eight people and injuring 17 others. A suspect, a 21-year-old male student named Xu, was apprehended on-site.
The attack occurred at the Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology in Yixing, a smaller city within Wuxi, at 6:30 p.m. local time, according to a Yixing police statement.
According to police, Wu failed his exams and was unable to graduate, and he was unsatisfied with his wages at an internship. He chose to vent his feelings through the attack, according to the statement.
Videos spreading on Western social media platforms like as X showed injured people laying on the street following the incident, with others rushing to help. On Chinese social media platforms such as Weibo, keyword searches for the attack return the police statement but no footage or photographs.
This is the second deadly attack in a week, after a man drove his car into people at a sports complex in Zhuhai, killing 35 and injuring 43.
