A pea-souper of fog is expected to blanket three of the four home nations during the next 24 hours, making driving difficult tonight and tomorrow morning.
The Met Office has issued multiple yellow warnings for fog, advising drivers to expect poor driving conditions overnight and during rush hour on Thursday morning.
The fall weather phenomena has blanketed broad swathes of the country overnight, extending from Belfast to Berkshire and affecting Wales, Northern Ireland, and England.
In total, six parts of the UK have received yellow warnings for vision-diminishing weather.
Northern Ireland has issued an alert from 3 p.m. today (Wednesday) to 8 a.m. tomorrow.
A warning is in effect in England, covering the North West, West Midlands, East Midlands, South West England, London, and South East England from quarter past midnight tonight until 10 a.m. Thursday. Wales has issued a warning for the same time.
The Met Office issued the following alert: “Patches of fog will become more widespread overnight, resulting in difficult driving conditions in places into Thursday morning.”
The agency also warned of “slower journey times with delays to bus and train services possible,” as well as “the possibility of flight delays or cancellations.”
