Ipswich Town: Sam Morsy highlighted after Manchester United draw

The former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder spent time at Playford Road last week to film interviews with various members of the Blues’ squad, giving him a taste of what life is like behind the scenes at the club.

Morsy, of course, is instrumental to the culture, but his work on the pitch is what caught Redknapp’s eye, with the 51-year-old highlighting how comfortable he looks in the Premier League.

“I’m a big fan of Sam Morsy in midfield,” he said on Super Sunday.

“You can obviously see that – in the nicest possible way – he’s got that bit of dog in him. I like that.

“He goes and wins tackles, but he can also play. He gives you exactly the edge that you need.

“He does play on the edge, but you can see why the manager likes him, trusts him. He’s looked very comfortable in this league.

“He’s probably watched the Premier League in the last few years and asked, ‘can I handle it? When I see these players – am I good enough to play?’. He’s more than good enough.

“I think he’s been excellent. In midfield, they were very combative, but they also kept the ball really well. I thought it was just a really good performance from Ipswich today.”
