The UEFA Champions League is the biggest platform in club football, and Daizen Maeda is establishing himself there, however it appears that not all Celtic fans are fans.
It is said that Daizen Maeda can occasionally be a frustrating player. He can score a spectacular goal out of the blue, like he did last night, and he has incredible devotion, but occasionally he can leave you feeling completely frustrated. Nevertheless, we should value and consider ourselves fortunate to have him at our club.
Last night’s goal was his third in the world’s top club competition this season, making him the first Celtic player to do so since Moussa Dembele. With a few games left, I wouldn’t rule out him adding to that total.
There’s a reason Daizen is among the first players listed on the squad sheet. He is a really gifted player in addition to having amazing energy and giving it his all on the pitch. As I mentioned earlier, he can be annoying at times, but most teams, including those in the Champions League, would consider themselves fortunate to have him on their roster.
Having scored three goals at this level is a testament to Daizen Maeda’s abilities, and he deserves a lot of credit for demonstrating that on the largest platform of all.
Last night, Sandman gave Daizen his own MOTM trophy in addition to UEFA’s Man of the Match title. A reader named Rabbie Burns responded to that with the following comment:
Maeda was terrible! Horrible, terrible! What are you watching? We have to get it to Kühn, who attacks his opponent almost every time as he should because he cuts back inside 90% of the time and plays the easy ball.
Because of his awful crossing, passing, and first touch, he is hopeless 80% of the time. He surprises himself and everyone else with a sclaffed goal like this 20% of the time. Are you all intentionally blind? He fell, and the ball bounced off one foot onto the other. Like Engels, he is a blank jersey. Until the substitutes enter the game, we are essentially playing with nine men. It should come as no surprise that we always do better.
I believe this is the worst Celtic player I’ve ever seen.
To be fair to Rabbie, I’ve never heard anyone trash a footballer for scoring a goal, but some people are never happy. or a new low. Perhaps you could understand if he was venting about CCV’s own goal, but you should also highlight how fantastic Cameron has been for Celtic.
However, that personal objective was disregarded, and Daizen is now the one receiving the punishment.
