Sky Sports Ipswich Town: Sam Morsy highlighted after Manchester United draw.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp was quick to praise Ipswich Town skipper Sam Morsy following the club’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
Last week, the former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder visited Playford Road to record interviews with members of the Blues’ team, gaining insight into the club’s operations.
Morsy, of course, is important to the culture, but it was his performance on the pitch that drew Redknapp’s attention, with the 51-year-old underlining how at ease he appears in the Premier League.
“I’m a big fan of Sam Morsy in midfield,” he stated on Super Sunday.
“You can clearly tell – in the kindest possible manner – that he has a touch of dog in him. I like it.
“He wins tackles, but he can also play. He gives you just the edge you need.
“He plays on the edge, but it’s clear why the boss loves and trusts him. He’s looked really at ease in this league.
“He probably watched the Premier League in recent years and wondered, ‘Can I handle it?'” When I see these players, I wonder if I’m skilled enough to play. He’s more than capable.
“I believe he has been terrific. They were highly feisty in midfield, but they also maintained excellent ball control. I think Ipswich gave a great performance today.”
