Breaking news Rangers board ‘hand Patrick Stewart immediate Philippe Clement sack decision’

Patrick Stewart’s first choice as Rangers CEO will be whether or not to remove Philippe Clement, according to Chris Jack of The Rangers Review.

The former Manchester United executive begins his post on December 16, the day after Rangers play Celtic in the League Cup final, and is scheduled to spend the time between now and then focussing on the team’s performance on the pitch in preparation for his arrival, with Tottenham being one of the six games to be played. With no notice term to serve, Stewart is expected to transfer to Scotland and will waste no time in tackling the Light Blues’ difficulties. With the board allegedly “not adopting a head in the sand approach” to the Belgian’s position, an exit appears possible.

The Gers currently sit third in the Scottish Premiership, 11 points adrift of league leaders Celtic, after a frustrating 1-1 draw against Dundee United over the weekend, further compounding their struggles in the title race.

Clement’s position is come under further scrutiny as Stewart and new chairman Malcolm Offord prepare to take over at Ibrox. As Stewart takes over, the Belgian’s future will be a major focus, indicating a potential shift in the club’s readiness to make drastic moves to enhance outcomes. According to Football Insider, Rangers will not make a decision on dismissing manager Clement right now.
