“Ambitious” manager leading race to replace Cooper after Leicester talks
A recent rumour claims that following talks with Leicester City, an “ambitious” manager is currently in the lead to succeed Steve Cooper.
Cooper was fired on Sunday, and the Foxes are now searching for their third manager in more in 18 months.
Leicester are looking for a new manager
Although Leicester began the season with a respectable point against Tottenham Hotspur, they have had a patchy start. However, they subsequently lost badly to teams that were in and around them in the table, which began to put pressure on Cooper.
With their two league victories, which came against Bournemouth and Southampton at the start of October, the Foxes have lost their past five games in all competitions. Matt Piper, a former Leicester player, thinks the timing of Cooper’s dismissal is “strange” and hopes it gets resolved quickly.
“What’s most shocking to me is the incredibly odd timing,” he remarked. The more I consider it, the more odd the timing is; you lose to Manchester United (3-0), and it’s by far the worst performance of the season—we simply didn’t show up.
You have a two-week international break after which you leave the manager in place, lose to Chelsea, and then fire him. It’s odd timing; if they believe that “we have to move Steve on,” but they’ve already spoken to someone else and are prepared to move on, then I can accept that schedule.
However, the team has said publicly that this is untrue. We’ve done this before, and it backfired. It didn’t work out well the last time we did it, so I hope they haven’t crossed that line again.”
There is a new leader in the race, so the hunt for Cooper’s replacement may be done sooner rather than later.
Ruud van Nistelrooy leading race to replace Cooper after Leicester talks
According to Football Insider, Ruud van Nistelrooy is now closing in on becoming Leicester City’s new manager after holding talks with the club. The Foxes are just a couple of days into their search for a new manager, and they may be hoping to have an appointment before their game against Brentford on the weekend.
Erik ten Hag has called van Nistelrooy “very ambitious and very driven.” He left Manchester United a few weeks ago and is currently unemployed. The Dutchman rejoined Ten Hag’s coaching team at Old Trafford in the summer, but after Ten Hag was fired, he was left as interim manager.
Ruben Amorim decided he wanted his own staff in place as he took over, but the 48-year-old won three of his four games in command, including two against Leicester. Van Nistelrooy appears to have returned to the football scene after his stint at United, and the Bundesliga 2 team He is interested in becoming the new manager of Hamburger SV, although he also has interest from.

Van Nistelrooy is currently the favourite over David Moyes and Graham Potter, who have also been connected to the open position, after the Foxes held negotiations with him after learning of German interest. Given that he can continue working in the Premier League, the Leicester position would be a more alluring offer than Hamburg for the Dutchman.
